I’m always searching for new ways to create a story. I thrive on change and challenge, and these works were my attempt at simplicity—though, as always, simplicity proved its own challenge. My intention was to see how limiting the number of elements might still generate a complete image. As usual, my focus was on form and color rather than “content.” When I begin blending images, something unexpected arises—something beyond my left brain’s planning. Magic always appears.
The two pieces—one in color (created first) and the other in black and white—unfolded without a clear idea of what they were expressing. Afterward, I turned to the I Ching for insight, and as so often happens, its guidance reflected something I was already in the midst of processing.

In black and white, the work speaks of dissolution. In color, it reveals emergence within dissolution. A hand extends toward the tower, signaling release—an invitation to let go, to peel away what no longer serves. The fragile tree stands as a reminder that life moves in cycles. Both the child and the tree embody the power of renewal.
Trust the rhythm: decay is not the end but the beginning of return. What falls away is meant to fall away. Within emptiness, new life glows. Dissolution clears space for what endures. Trust the ground beneath you. Become receptive, and allow the new to grow.
