Practicing Freedom

Mindless creativity is the practice of making art from one’s spirit. It requires the artist to remain in a stream of creative consciousness, or you may also call it, no mind. I begin the piece with color and form and then let the process of choosing images spontaneously guide each step. From here my awareness is on balance, both in color and form and the image moves forward. In the end the image must feel grounded in something that resonates with my core even though I often have to sit with it for a while before I understand it’s significance. You could say I’m blinded by my own process yet it ensures I don’t throw in any preconceived ideas or beliefs about how things should look. Art is my way to practice freedom.
