AN ENGLISH COUNTRYSIDE ADVENTURE

Join Karen Divine and Lord Spencer and Lady Tracy Northampton in a unique, week-long adventure geared to move you outside your comfort zone, challenging you to make imagery that reflects a new and unique personal perspective. Freedom Through the Creative Process is the technique Karen developed and teaches to create art from an intuitive place. There are five steps in this process. The first is creating a background, the second is learning to allow the imagery to appear, the third is creating balance, the fourth is pulling the image together using color, shapes, lines, and additional elements. The fifth and last optional step of this process involves opening yourself up to what this new work is revealing to you about your life and the present moment. We will spend two hours each day practicing this process with additional work time throughout the day to also work with mixed media if that interests you. I can print your imagery so you may continue working it with pastels, pencils, etc. You may also create a small book/journal of the weeks work and experience.. For beginners, I will send App tutorials so you are familiar with the apps we will use or, feel free to use Photoshop if you are familiar with using layers. You may also shoot with the iPhone or a DSLR Camera.
The fabric of all our experiences exists in our imagery: our shadows, dreams, joys, doubts, and fears. Throughout the week, we will tap into this creative spirit by quieting our minds through restorative yoga, gentle meditations, and sound healing. Again, you may use Photoshop to composite, or the iPhone and iPad with Superimpose X, Procreate and Snapseed.
This workshop is a unique opportunity for many reasons. It is located in the grounds of Castle Ashby in Northampton where Tracy and Spenny built a beautiful boutique hotel called The Falcon. Here you may choose to take a Wild Swim in their private lake at Castle Ashby. Andy Patmore, a senior forester, will take us on a Sane Copse Nature Walk and teach us about the environment as we capture imagery during the early morning light. There is also a Bird Ringing session with Nick Woods early Saturday morning to learn all about the Birds in the area. Spenny will give us a tour on the history of Castle Ashby and the Gardens. All our meals with be at The Falcon and are amazingly delicious and healthy. And, you will learn tools towards embracing freedom in your creative process.
The countryside is gorgeous, filled with rolling hills, sheep, and a thousand years of history. Tours to be determined. Last year we went to Bletchley Park, the principal center of Allied codebreaking during the Second World War and lunch and tour of Delapre Abbey. It is a full week of opportunities not only to capture stunning photos in the incredibly beautiful countryside, but to also spend as much time as you would like to create magical imagery.
Pricing Includes:
Seven nights, single room accommodation in Cozy Cottages; some ensuite, some shared baths. The cottages are quite comfortable with living areas and small kitchens. Pricing is same for all the cottage rooms.

Flights, insurance, meals, and snacks not mentioned, alcohol, massages, Wild Swim at Castle Ashby, airport transfers and train transfers to and from the Hotel as well as any other activities not included in workshop description above. Also I may ask you to bring a few small supplies for mixed media.
Cancellation Policy: Deposit of $1000 USD required to secure your spot. The remaining non-refundable tuition due 90 days prior when we determine that the workshop is filled. Refund possible if we can fill your spot within 90 days of the Workshop.
