Ready to Walk

“If you are ready to leave father and mother, and brother and sister, and wife and child and friends…if you have paid your debts, and made your will, and settled all your affairs, and are a free man — then you are ready for a walk.” Henry David Thoreau

“Leave the door open for the unknown, the door into the dark. That’s where the most important things come from, where you yourself came from, and where you will go. Three years ago I was giving a workshop in the Rockies. A student came in bearing a quote from what she said was the pre-Socratic philosopher Meno. It read, “How will you go about finding that thing the nature of which is totally unknown to you?”  Rebecca Solnit

I believe it’s a matter of not using your familiar tools. You must listen to your heart and with undeniable trust, take a step forward.
